Patsy Renz was born and raised on a ranch in the North Dakota badlands. She married a farmer and lived in the Prairie Pothole region of North Dakota. For the last 12 years before she retired and moved to Florida she worked for Long Lake National Wildlife Refuge and started drawing birds as a way to identify them and for the Refuge's publications.

She has won numerous awards at art shows and has sold artwork in several states. Her latest project is color pencil portraits of people's pets.
